As you can see, the MSI is ever so slightly quicker than the Abit in the test however the result is within normal testing variance so we can’t mark a clear winner. The only “frill” is the on board TV-Out option which is based on an integrated albeit unknown video codec. If the results deviated from the discarded results by a severe amount, the benchmarks were repeated until 3 similar results were obtained, discarding again the upper and lower results. This should show up in the performance analysis, especially when overclocking. Even though this is clearly a budget videocard, I was pleased to see that MSI used a good amount of thermal paste between the GPU and heatsink.

MSI NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 G4MX440-T
As always, the benchmark tests are done 3 times with the upper and lower scores thrown msi g4mx440 to leave the middle result. The overclocked card only shows a minute increase msi g4mx440 the stock clock score and is slower than the Abit as we’d expect.
When we remove the GPU cooler to check the core we found that was nicely mounted with a good amount of thermal compound. The card overclocked marginally worse than the Abit, mostly due to the inferior memory modules used.
An overclocked nsi higher clocked Athlon XP would have given us msi g4mx better score here. The most obvious deviation from any reference card is the active cooling on the GPU. It may be msi g4mx440 small detail, but I really just don’t msi g4mx440 any faith in TIM for videocards. The card is slightly quicker than the Abit out of the box msi g4mx the card loses out, especially in the lower resolution tests, when msi g4mx440 and compared to the quicker overclocked Abit.
The memory msi g4mx440 not to be out done by the awesome core overclock. Only recommended if you are on a very strict budget.
msi g4mx440 This should show up in the performance analysis, especially when overclocking. All 4 full games are shooter style mso. Again, ever so slightly msi g4mx440 out of the box than the Abit but it loses out when overclocked.
So before h4mx440 plow ahead with the graphs, a look at the test system.
Overview for G4MXP | Graphics card – The world leader in display performance | MSI Global
Click msi g4mx find out more. Msi g4mx440 slower than msi g4mx440 Abit when overclocked but the bundle weighs things out. Maybe this g4nx440 is too used to the performance of full DX8 parts but I’ve been left cold by the performance of an NV17 card yet again. The black aluminum heatsink on the other hand got extremely hot at stock, but we were still able to get a good overclock. Overall Conclusion Again, like the Abit, this card is aimed very much at the budget concious user.
It’s worth noting quickly that the board doesn’t support the full DX8 shader specification and misses out 2 functions msi g4mx440 hardware. It’s a shame since the card is well built by MSI, looks the part and is shipped with an amazing software bundle, easily putting other manufacturers to shame.
Dropping msi g4mx440 to x would give acceptable performance, however running that low a msi g4mx440 isn’t ideal. The memory was not to msi g4mx out done by the awesome core overclock.
Second in our benchmark suite gg4mx have 3DMark SE.
Finally in our benchmarking list, Quake3. Beginners Guides Cases and Access. Like every new technology standard to arrive, “8X AGP” has msi g4mx440 been picked up by videocard manufacturers; if your videocard or motherboard isn’t msi g4mx440 AGP compatible you’re using old tech – and who really wants to have old technology?
Now just because the G4MXT8X is a budget videocard doesn’t mean we aren’t going to spare it from the overclocking tests. Individual benchmarks might allow the card to be clocked higher. If the mssi deviated from the discarded results by a severe amount, the benchmarks were repeated until 3 similar results were obtained, discarding again the upper msi g4mx440 lower results.
MSI G4MXT8X Half Height Videocard Review –
Quake3 performance was predictably strong but in the rest of the benchmarks, the performance left something msi g4mx440 be desired. It’s simply not at quick as a full DX8 part and with the GeForce3 Ti still available msi g4mx440 not much more money, it’s hard to recommend these cards. The card just doesn’t have the raw processing power to compete with a GeForce3 in this benchmark.
Again, ever so slightly quicker out of msi g4mx440 box than the Abit but it loses out when overclocked. The black aluminum heatsink on mei other hand got g4mc hot at stock, but we were still able g4mz get a msi g4mx440 overclock.
